QUESTION: I bleieve i am having a venting issue with my black water tank. When I open the cap to pump out it spews. This happens after very little use. How do I clean out my vent line
ANSWER: Thanks for the question. In most case the vents from you black water holding tanks are ported through the hull or up on the side of the boat. The normal problem here is that spiders and or dirt dobbers get in there and build a nest. This can cause it not do do its job venting the holding tank. The simple fix for this is to remove the pump out cap and using compressed air blow into the vent port. Caution should be used here so that you dont get covered with waste. If no compressed air is available you could use you garden hose hooked to dock supply water. Using your spray nozzel direct water force into the vent port. This will usually clear it out. In very stuborn cases you will have to remove the vent tube from the holding tank and the outlet port on the hull or wall. Get the tube out where you can view it and see where the restriction is and rod it out or replace the tube. Give this a try and let us know if that corrects the problem. Thanks again and please post a picture in our community of your boat. Lastly tell a friend how to find us. Happy Boating!! Uncle Ricky & Aunt Merri
